The ACHM is now offering an on-site 40 hour
training program entitled Hyperbaric Medicine Concepts & Practice (SM)
which can be split into two sessions or given as a single 5 day course. This course is available for large groups that are interested in bringing the course instructor to their location. If there is only one individual looking for training, we highly recommend the online training provided by WebCME .
Over the past 5 years more than 1,000 physicians, nurses and technicians have
been trained using this successful curriculum. This is a state-of-the-art
multimedia training experience with reference CD's and a 600 page training
manual.
Special emphasis is placed on an evidenced based review of the literature
coupled with case management guidelines. The course fulfills the
requirements for the ACHM physician certification exam in hyperbaric medicine,
the NBDHMT (National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology) exam,
and the credentialing requirements at most hospitals. This unique offering
provides a significant savings in airfare, lodging, and meal expenses, while
providing the convenience and benefits of being trained on site as a
team.
On-site training has additional benefits beyond the immediate cost savings. These include the ability to have medical staff members audit topics of interest (again there is no charge for them to do so) and perhaps more importantly the ability to train busy physicians who do not have the time to leave their practice or the ability to arrange for “coverage” of their practice during a week long absence. In the case of physicians who are employed by the hospital, the cost of arranging for a week of coverage of a single physician will often equal the cost of the entire course.
